Iran Claims Attack on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have intercepted missiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
